QUATUOR PARISII

Since its formation Quatuor Parisii has become a welcome visitor to concert venues throughout Europe, USA and the Far East, with a wide repertoire which encompasses all the major classical and romantic works for string quartet.

In addition the quartet is noted for its interpretations of contemporary repertoire, particularly of contemporary French works. Programmes chosen for recent visits to the Newbury and Bath Festivals show the versatility of these musicians, and included an all-French programme (Fauré, Debussy and Ravel) and a programme of music from the Mediterranean with a mix of music from street sounds in North African cities to music newly written by composers from France, Greece and Italy and with additional instruments such as double bass, cymbalom and zarb!

The Quartet performed at a sold-out Wigmore Hall concert in 2003 which was reviewed in The Strad as “a matchless performance.”

The quartet  worked with Pierre Boulez on the “Livre pour Quatuor” to celebrate the composer’s 75th birthday, with performances both in France and USA.

Quatuor Parisii also performs much quintet repertoire and, in recent performances, has been joined by Pascal Rogé, Michel Dalberto, Philippe Bianconi, Martin Lovett, Anne Queffélec, Michael Collins,  Leon Mac Cawley and Ashley Wass.
